I. Introduction of Anqing City

Anqing City, located in the southwest of Anhui Province, is a port city on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. As a national garden city and an excellent tourist city, Anqing is blessed with the beautiful scenery of Dalong Mountain in the North and the Yangtze River flowing by the south, with Wanhe River, Lion Mountatin, Linhu Lake, Qintan Lake scatters around the city. Anqing is also a national historical and cultural city, the cradle of the growth of Hui Ban,which is the ancestor of Peking Opera, and the hometown of famous people such as Chen Duxiu, Deng Jiaxian and Zhang Henshui. Here, the ancient Anhui culture, Zen culture, Huangmei Opera culture and Tongcheng School culture have formed a unique regional culture.

II. Introduction of Anqing Normal University

Anqing Normal University (AQNU) is located in Anqing. The university enjoys a long history, being the birthplace of higher education in Anhui province in modern times. The university has two campuses, Longshan campus and Linghu campus, which cover an area of 2,800 mu (about 1.87 square kilometers) altogether. There are 17 colleges and 77 undergraduate majors, covering 10 discipline categories, including literature, economics, history, law, education, science, engineering, management, agriculture and art. There are 41 master programs. The university now has faculty of 1,900 and more than 29,000 full-time students. AQNU has formed friendship and cooperation with a number of overseas universities, including Salisbury University, University of Central Arkansas, University of Hildesheim in Germany, and Hanseo University in South Korea. It has carried out effective cooperation with these universities in terms of faculty exchange, students exchange, teaching and research, etc.

With perfect facilities and colorful cultural activities, the university provides students with a comfortable learning environment and a diversified communication platform.

III. Program Introduction

Summer Institute (SI)

The Summer Institute (SI) is a 2-week summer programme that brings together students to explore various academic fields and gain insights into future studies in the globalized world.

By joining in the SI, students can explore a variety of subject areas through short courses taught by AQNU scholars, enjoy the vibrant student life at the lushly green campus which also provides a peaceful backdrop for studies, and gain valuable insights into adapting to the university learning environment, with the guidance and support from AQNU students, faculty and staff members. Students can also learn basic knowledge of Chinese language, get to know Chinese culture, including the history of the city, tea culture, food culture, opera culture, and so on. Student will enjoy the immersive experience of the city lifestyle, local food and scenes, Kongfu, Dragon Boat rowing and Huangmei Opera, and earn 2--4 credits with 100% attendance of the program.
